With the smartphone mounts we’ve seen up until now, they generally only serve to hold the smartphone so that it can be viewed while riding. The phone holder is adjustable enough to hold smartphones as large as 7 in. wide, great news for iPhone Max owners. The 5W Bluetooth speaker can be used to hear directions provided by the phone or listen to entertainment such as music or a podcast. Two LED lights are said to illuminate the road up to 50 meters in front of the rider. The power bank (battery) powers the speaker, lights and can charge the smartphone. It has a capacity of 5000mAh (18.5Wh); to put this in perspective, an iPhone 15 comes with a 3367mAh battery. Finally, the speaker can be used as an electronic horn to alert others to your presence.
We’ve yet to see another phone holder that offers so many functions in addition to simply holding a smartphone so that it can be viewed while riding. A simple phone holder that does nothing else can run from just a few bucks to more than $50; your smartphone’s level of security may be reflected in the price, of course.
One challenge some riders may face is finding the optimal angle for the phone holder so that the screen can be seen while also pointing the light at an angle so that it illuminates the road or path ahead of the rider.
Arguably, the best feature of the Pimp My Bike phone holder is that it combines so many different functions in a single item that attaches to the handlebar. There are products that provide each of these functions, but most bars lack the room to clamp so many individual accessories on.
